Full moon

Taken on 22nd December 2010. Unfortunately last night due to bad weather I missed the lunar eclipse. Tonight the moon was very impressive so I thought I'd have an attempt at my very first moon shot. My new nikkor 70-300mm lens, an early Christmas present (thanks B!) did wonders.

Johnston Street Fiesta 2010

Every year thousands of Melburnians are lured to Fitzroy for a weekend fiesta of food, music and dancing. The street is lined with stalls serving paella, chorizo sausages, sangria, tapas and other taste sensations. This was the first year I have attended and I absolutely loved it! Will definitely go back again next year.

Summer

The weather here in Melbourne has been quite depressing lately, rain, rain and more rain! I have been really struggling to find inspiration to get me in the shooting mode for the start of the summer season. Spent some time today looking through photographs I took nearly a year ago and I was instantly reminded of the warm summer nights, night markets in the city, live music, sunsets and wonderful people that I can share all the with again. Bring it on!

Dwindling Apostles

I met Andrew Mansell recently through Flickr. He approached me asking for my permission to use my photograph in his blog. A few weeks later he contacted me again saying my photograph inspired a poem he wrote, best compliment ever!

Once walked, now banished,
Battered by natures gifts,
In another lifetime vanished,
Forever from these cliffs.
Eternally captured in this frame,
Reference safely kept,
Preach your dwindling name,
From this lens never swept.

Miss Match - the fPOE Diptych Project with Korana - week 26 theme: BARELY THERE

This week I was paired up with a wonderful and very talented photographer Korana, make sure you check out her Flickr page. Winter in Melbourne has been cold and wet and all I can think about is the spring which is taking it's time to arrive. This would explain my take on the theme.

 Left: Me, Right: Korana

Barely there - waiting for springtime

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!

Miss Match - the fPOE Diptych Project with Preetalina - week 24 theme: SUGAR

This week's theme was sugar so my take on it was guilty pleasures - good for the soul, bad for the waste line :) My partner was a wonderful photographer Preeti Desai, make sure you check out her Etsy store
